DeSales University / Professors There

  • Dr. Katherine Ramsland, a forensic psychology professor at DeSales University, who taught Kohberger during his master’s degree, has publicly spoken one day before the plea on July 2 2025. Dr. Katherine Ramsland stated:

“we all, everyone in this field, forensic psychology and criminology. >> know that we could have students who might become offenders. but we also know that the majority, the vast majority, students will not and instead go into a field like law enforcement, fbi, secret service, making the world better, protecting us. so we know that there’s always a risk that we’re attracting somebody who wants to do something terrible. hoping we won’t ever have that. but you know, in my case, i did.

so i wanted to wait and see. i wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. but months go by and they were saying that he had an alibi, and i wonder, why are you sitting in jail? give us your hour, get out. and that wasn’t happening. and then it was really when he said his alibi, and it was clearly not an alibi. he would have known that certainly from all the classes that he had, undergraduate and graduate work. he would have understood. and that wasn’t really an alibi. i think that was when i was really, you know, more—he did that. this is my student who has done these things…..”

  • Another DeSales professor, Michelle Bolger, said he was “one of my best students — ever.” She praised his writing and academic potential.
