Criticism, Behavior, & Selfies

  • In the months after his arrest, and after the murders, some images/selfies of Kohberger surfaced. Several of these show him shirtless, and one shows what appears to be a fresh wound on his ring finger.
  • There has been debate about whether that injury came from the murders or whether it was from another cause (he reportedly offered explanations like accidents).
  • These selfies have drawn criticism from victims’ families and commentators, some of whom believe they are evidence of a “trophy mentality” or callousness (especially those taken after the murders but before arrest). Others suggest they reflect strange behavior or bravado, but it’s unclear how investigative authorities have interpreted or used them.
